Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars An extremely valuable resource for any teacher.   April 14, 1999
Linda Gold (goldentouchpuppets@yahoo.com (Salt Lake City, UT)
I teach creative dramatics and improvisation to both children and elementary teachers. I have used my Theater Game File extensively. The games are fun and easy to follow. They include instructions, side coaching (what to say during the game) and evaluation questions. Some of the games are traditional games, such as "streets and alleys" and others are exclusively Spolin. Every teacher I show them to says, "These are wonderful. Where can I get them?." I have the original published version. I wanted to know if it was still available, and obviously it is. I would expect this updated version to be just as wonderful.

Spolin theatre game is a great education for students who wants to learn about theatre. It is very easy to use because it has index cards with themes.

5 out of 5 stars Viola Spolin Theater File   February 8, 2007

An excellent resource for theatre instructors. You need to know some of the background of Viola Spolin and her methods for using improvisation in teaching theatre to both children and adults. Gives excellent ideas and how to do the different exercises.

5 out of 5 stars History-making improv founder   June 9, 2007
P. Dahl (California, USA)
This game file distills the life work of Improv pioneer Viola Spolin. She directed the Compass Theater, the first professional, improvisational acting company in America.

For the TV generation, Viola Spolin's work led to the Second City Company, which influenced the careers of Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Bill Murray, George Wendt, Dan Aykroyd, Eugene Levy, Shelley Long, James Belushi, Dan Castellaneta, Mike Myers, Chris Farley, Nia Vardalos, Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Adam McKay and many others.

BTW, some individuals are listing this for over one hundred dollars, but you can get it for less at Northwestern University Press.
